Install and Update Office 365 Apps

Office 365 apps for enterprise is free for all of our students to install. At Pinehurst, we use Microsoft 365 and Office for teaching and learning resources, homework, and assignments. These can be installed on up to 5 computers.


You might have one of the following questions:

  • Installing Office apps on a new computer.
  • New to the school and need to install Office apps.
  • Experiencing issues with your current installation—need to reinstall.
  • Want to check if you have the latest version of Office apps.


Alert
Sometimes, new laptops come with trial versions of Office 365. We recommend uninstalling the trial version (in Settings, Installed apps) and installing this full version using the instructions below.

Installing Office 365

  1. Go to https://office.com
  2. At the top right corner, click on "Sign in".
  3. Sign in using your school email address and password
      4. Now Microsoft default give you the Copilot Chat page, click on Apps on the left menu.
      
      5. Select More apps in the menu.  
      
      6. At the right top corner, click on Install Apps, and select "Microsoft 365 apps".

Update Office365

This is important to keep your apps up to date. This includes new features and security updates. 


1. Open any Microsoft 365 apps (Word, Excel or PowerPoint), Click on File menu at the top and check the Account area in the bottom part. 

2. Click on Update options and select to Update Now.

3. The installation may take it a while and it will also require all opened documents to close for restart. Make sure to save all your work. 
4. Once the installation is complete. Click on Close.
